Itinerary
Once you've seen the museums, the reason to come back to Qatar is the desert. Two days is enough for the classic version: dune driving down to the Inland Sea, a camel trek at sunset, a balloon flight at sunrise, and the strange eroded landscape out at Zekreet.
Afternoon

A guided 4x4 run through the dunes to Khor Al Adaid, the inland sea on the Saudi border — dune driving, a swim stop, and sunset over the water.

Swap the 4x4 for a camel as the light goes: a slow sunset trek on the dunes outside Doha, with sandboarding before the drive back.

An early start for a free-flying balloon over the desert at sunrise (November to March, weather permitting), with karak and a sandwich on landing.

Drive west to Zekreet: the abandoned film-set village and the wind-carved Mushroom Rocks out on the Ras Abrouq peninsula.
