Zekreet's Film City is a partially rebuilt Arabic village set built for productions in 2009, now just sitting empty on the Ras Abrouq peninsula with its mosque, minarets and mud-brick houses intact. A short drive further along the coast, wind erosion has carved a cluster of limestone pillars into unmistakable mushroom shapes, right where the Richard Serra sculpture East-West/West-East also stands. You'll need a 4x4 and a full tank, since there are no shops or facilities anywhere on the peninsula and the last stretch of road is rough.
