6-Hour Doha Layover

Six hours between flights, minus immigration and the drive each way, leaves you roughly three usable hours in the city. This is the version that works: everything is on the same stretch of the Corniche, so you're never doubling back. Check you're eligible for a transit visa first, and leave for the airport with two hours to spare.

Best for: Transit passengers with a long connection and an entry stampPace: Tight — three stops, all within ten minutes of each other, then straight back

Three hours in the city

  1. Hour 1

    Souq Waqif heritage walk

Things to do · Souq Waqif

Taxi straight to Souq Waqif. One loop of the main lanes and the falcon souq is enough to get the feel of old Doha.

  2. Hour 2

    Museum of Islamic Art

    Museum · Doha Corniche

A ten-minute walk along the water to the Museum of Islamic Art. Skip the temporary shows and do the permanent collection and the top-floor view.

  3. Hour 3

    Doha Corniche walk or cycle

Things to do · Doha Corniche

Walk back along the Corniche for the skyline, then flag a taxi from the MIA park side. This is your buffer — don't stretch it.
