Visas
Most nationalities can get a visa on arrival or apply online in advance. Check your specific nationality's requirements before booking flights — processing time varies more than people expect.
Best time to visit
November through March is the comfortable stretch — outdoor plans (desert, beach, walking tours) are far more pleasant. April through October runs hot, which pushes most activity indoors or to the evening.
Getting around
The metro covers the main tourist corridor well, but a lot of activities outside the city center (desert trips, some cultural sites) are easiest with a car or a booked transfer.
Currency
The Qatari Riyal (QAR) is pegged to the US dollar. Cards are widely accepted in the city; carry some cash for souq stalls and smaller kitchens.
