Shay Al Shomous sits in a charming corner of Souq Waqif, sharing the district's traditional architecture while showcasing Qatari heritage through food instead. It was built by owner Shams Al Qassabi, the first woman to start a business venture in the souq and the first Qatari to launch her own food products line. Regulars come for a menu built around sweet vermicelli balaleet, Qatari pancakes called chebab, and other home-style dishes drawn from her own family recipes, served with genuine Qatari hospitality from breakfast onward.
