Souq Waqif (heritage district)
Souq Waqif occupies the site of a historic trading market where Bedouin once bartered wool and livestock along the banks of Wadi Musheireb; the current mud-rendered, wood-beamed structure is a 2004–2008 reconstruction by Msheireb Properties after a 2003 fire damaged much of the original fabric. Its narrow lanes now hold several hundred shops selling spices, falconry equipment, and textiles alongside restaurants housed in restored merchant buildings.
