Souq Waqif (heritage district)
Once a pearl-diver and Bedouin trading post, the souq was largely destroyed by fire and rebuilt in the mid-2000s to recreate its 19th-century look rather than modernize it. Worth treating as a heritage site in its own right, not just a place to shop or eat.
