Qatar National Library

The building itself is a single vast reading terrace carved from stone, but the real draw is the heritage wing: thousands of manuscripts and tens of thousands of historical photographs of Qatar and the Gulf, some of the print material dating back centuries. Free to wander, and usually calm even when the rest of the city is busy.
