Al Thakira Mangrove Boardwalk

Al Thakira, just northeast of Al Khor town, holds Qatar's largest natural mangrove forest, a nursery habitat for fish and crabs that draws migratory herons and flamingos in season. A lit 1.8km seafront walkway opened in 2019 gives walkers and cyclists an easy way to take in the mangrove channels without needing a kayak, and entry is free. It's a solid alternative to the kayaking crowds if you just want a quiet birdwatching walk at sunrise or sunset, about 45 minutes from Doha via Al Khor Road.
