Katara Beach

Katara Beach is the closest thing central Doha has to a genuinely public beach, sitting within the Katara Cultural Village between the amphitheatre and the marina. Entry to the sand is free, though chairs and umbrellas rent for a few riyals each and paid water-sports concessions (jet ski, kayak, wakeboard, gondola rides) operate from the same stretch. The dress code — shoulders and knees covered — is stricter than at private beach clubs and is actively enforced, which is worth knowing before you show up in a regular swimsuit.
