Museum of Islamic Art

Pei spent six months touring the Islamic world before designing this one, and it shows — the geometry borrows from a 9th-century Cairo mosque, and the galleries inside hold thirteen centuries of manuscripts, metalwork, and textiles. The attached library alone runs past 20,000 volumes. Go for the building as much as the collection.
